What to Expect

Worship Time  We begin worship promptly at 9:30 a.m., Central Time. The service lasts until approximately 10:30 and includes a sermon of about 20 minutes followed by communion.

Dress  You'll find us many of us dressed in suits and ties and others in golf shirts. When we think of  "Sunday best," we think not of clothing but of our attitude toward worship.

Conduct  While you'll find plenty of joyful noise outside as people greet one another and welcome you, you'll notice that, once in the sanctuary, it is our custom not to talk with one another--but to speak to God. We prepare for worship by kneeling in prayer to offer thanks for our church and to ask God's blessings for our clergy and fellow parishioners.

Communion  All baptized Christians - including visitors and children - are invited to join in the Sacrament of communion. At Christchurch, we take communion at the altar in the front of the church, one row at a time. An usher will be there to guide you. As you kneel, a Lay Eucharist minister will hand you a wafer of bread. Most of us eat the bread right away, and then drink a sip of wine as the cup is administered to us. You may also choose to dip the bread in the wine.  Following communion, you may return to your seat for a time of prayer, worship, or reflection as we sing choruses of praise. Our healing prayer team is also available during this time to pray with you in the West Transcept Alcove.

Profession of Faith  We do not have altar calls. If you're not already a Christian, we hope you'll find the peace and joy in living your life for Him that we have. When you're ready to make that commitment to living for a higher purpose, please see a member of our clergy.

Kneeling to Pray There are parts of our service when we pray corporately by kneeling together.  Kneeling has always been a symbol of humbleness and honor, and it helps us to focus our hearts and prayers.  You may choose not to kneel, but we encourage you to give it a try.  Just follow our lead when it's time, nobody's looking!
